depression

I've been on Effexor 150mg for 3 years now and right now I don't feel like they are helping me with my depression, anxiety and insomnia. I was wondering if anyone had any advise on switching to Lexapro or Wellburtren. I've heard of both, and wanted some information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Effexor did not help me at all, either did well butrin, the  only  things that helped in my past were paxil and elavil.  Paxil made me feel pretty good, but you have to really taper off the drug if you are going to quit taking it.

I wish i could still take elavil which is an olde antidepressant, it took about 2 wks to work, it helped me go to bed and sleep!!!, i only took 10 mg at bedtime and 10 mg in the afternoon but i was about 35 at the time.  it makes you alittle groggy in am, but coffee helps with that, only start out with the 10 mg, the 25 and 50 mg will make you really tired.

the newer anti depressants really don't effect me, i tried the cymbalta it did nothing

hope this helps some,

I naturally sleep too much. Just the act of lying down makes me sleepy. But during the first week of welbutrin i couldn't sleep at all, so if you have insomnia, I'd say stay away. Try lexapro.

My GF has been on Lexapro for two years with great results and doesnt have any insomnia associated with it. As a nurse I know that Wellbruten can tend to be a little more activating and possibly cause insomnia in some.  But it seems to have rather benign side effects and a good track record. Hope this helps. Swimmer

Its pointless to ask people because these medicines work differenty on everyone. It's all Trial and Error!
