effexor withdrawal and leg muscle spasms

I stopped effexor 75 cold turkey and got very severe leg pains and muscle spasms.  After 6 days, I restarted at 37.5 - the dose I had been taking customarily for years.  It has been about 10 days and I still have the muscle spasms.  I do not know what to do about this.  Thank you.

I was on Effexor for about a year, during that time I experienced horrible leg cramps.  I wouldn't be able to sleep and my life was also horrible during that time.  I went to the dr. and they said it was restless leg syndrom and put me on meds for that.  I went off of Effexor after finally convincing my dr thats what the problem was and the pain stopped within two weeks.  This of course is just my experience.  I hope you get it worked out.

Good luck,

Alley

Maybe there are other causes for it? Low potassium levels can also cause cramps/pain in legs and feet. Lack of sleep can too.

Having blood drawn for this will of course cost. All tests do. In another way it is worth trying how much the sleep acts in - maybe you sleep less than you use to do due to going off effexor?
If you don't eat fruit, try adding some (apples, bananas, apricots...). If you don't use salt in your food when you cook, try to add a little bit. Our bodies do need salt (all in reasonable amounts, it is healthy).
Make sure you get enough water.
