i'm just wondering if i'm ok to take, paracetamol, and gaviscon indigestion tablets while on venlafexine (effexor) for anxiety and depression? only started back on the med yesterday and feeling a bit low but i'm hoping it wont take to long before they kick in again as i'm due to have my 3rd child in 6 weeks, any info would be great thanks jessica x

I agree with bulldozer, it could be an extend release capsule or tabler - OR there is the intention of keeping you on the drug for an extended period of time, especially with PPD.

I'm not on that class of meds, most didn't work for long, and both effexor and cymbalta made me extremely anxious.My moods swung dramatically, I was happy one minute, then cranky and anxious the next, it was horrid.  I was then diagnosed with a different disorder, and moved over to different class of drugs, which has worked wonders, the drug class is called Mood Stabilizers. No drug can be a miracle drug, as I am sure your away, but it sure helps, especially with a new baby and coping with new stressors.

Again, congrats on bringing a  beautiful new life into the world!

unless my brain is playing tricks I'm pretty sure prolonged means that the tablet is slow release.  I would explain that further but having a real "foggy" afternoon in my head.

Congrats on your 3rd baby.  I'm so glad the Drs are being supportive of your depression.  I see so often women who come off everything and then get really ill following the birth (I admit to having been one of those women).

Do you know if they are going to keep an eye on your progesterone levels or give you any progesterone following the birth?  I know things change but when I had my babies they gave me a progesterone injection and pessaries to help keep PND away following a severe case of it with my first born.

i was on effexor when i found out i was pregnant in june 2008 and had been on it since january of that year, i was told by my doc i could take it through out my pregnancy on 37.5mg tablet a day, but choose to stop taking it in september,but i'v since been a nervous wreck, so he has now put me back on it for babys health as i'v been really stressed out and hes put me back on venlafexine prolonged 75mg a day but what does the prolonged mean? can i ask why your not on effexor anymore?

I'm told, I may be mistaken, that you shouldn't take Gaviscon while pregnant and Effexor in your last trimester.. You can chew tums until the cows come home though. I don't see any that says you shouldn't take Gaviscon while on Effexor. I have GERD and take it everyday along with my Nexium.

From what I know Zoloft is a much safer drug. You've only been on the med for a couple of days.Where you prescribed it for depression and/or anxiety?  I would consider going off the drug and consult your OB/GYN . Who prescribed the drug to you? This drug can take 4-6 weeks on average to kick in. So it's not going to kick in quickly, but if you get off the med right now and consult with your OB, you wouldn't have any withdrawals, except maybe the spins for a day or so.

Do freak out with the short amount of time you've been on it, keep in touch, and congrats on the new baby!
