Prozac's long half-life makes the issue of med compliance a little less of a big deal, hence the approval for depressed teenagers. It varies depending on each person's metabolism, but usually anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks you should feel it working.
Also, That really long half-life means it takes forever to wean yourself off of  Prozac. Best wishes!

anything from 4 to 8 weeks and even longer in some cases depending on whether firstly the medication indeed works for you and secondly how severe is your level of depression. This can be an extremely frustrating experience whilst your awaiting for yourself solely to feel better about yourself as it can feel an extreemly long time when your feeling so shaky and depressed, but hang in there and have other things in place or around you during this transitional time to ease your sense of difficulties & distress. If it's going to work you may find that you begin to find that your beginning to see improvements upon things like your quality of sleep, your ability to rise in the morning and your not as petrified or anxious about doing stuff or going out. This may happen as early as 2 weeks depending upon your individual and specific circumstances. Others around you may begin to see changes with you which you may not be able to see which are the returning of the person they know under the illness . Hang in there and be kind to yourself during this time and have good honest contact with those your involved with in terms of your on-going care.
