side effecdts of sertraline?

hi everyone
i just wanted to know if anyone who is on sertraline has had any side effects and if they are common because i have just started taking this medication and is it sutible for a 16 year old as i have read somewhere that it should not be given to under 18's

Just started taking this medication since monday and my heart races, i'm having tons of anxiety, racing thoughts, cant sleep, stomach hurts at times, nervousness, and i've been shaking. I absolutely hate the way this medication is making me feel, i'm even more irritable and weird feeling. It scares me how this drug is effecting me especially the way my heart feels and the shaking at times so i'm going to have to call my dr. asap. I'm only on this medication cause my insurance wont pay for Lexapro (greatest anti-depresant ive ever been on).

In General antidepressants should not be given to people under 18. For reasons unknown SSRI's like Zoloft can often cause problems in young teens.

Then again, if you are suffering from a very serious Major depression, then some Psychiatrists will view utilizing an antidepressant as the lesser of two evils.

For many years I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day. At that time it worked pretty good. I was 23 at the time and I did have some side effects such as dry mouth and "an unusual ability to have sex for hours without stopping." Actually that one I found kind of nice and so did my girlfriend.

I did have some problems with bowel movements on Zoloft. Either I had diareea or I was constipated. That was kind of a pain. I suppose it made me just a bit sleepy too.
