You need to see a specialist, a physc-doctor.  Give him your medical history and see what he suggests.  He may or maynot give you medications or he may just suggest therapy.  Could be Lexapro is not the correct medication for you.  Therapy may be the answer..plse go see a physc-doctor for direction.  Thanks, Jude

my pcp gave me lexapro to try, which seem to work for a week or so - had some relief but I was "spaced out" zoned out like I was doing things but not really there - is that normal with Lexapro?

I tried the month he gave me and didn't go back - I'm terrified of another medicine messing more of my system up; I have major ANS issues and can't tolerate alot of things.

I have had surgery twice and can remember waking up and remember parts of it but not all of it...I can see that would be tramatic!  It definitley sounds like depression...I don't know if it is due to the surgery episode but it definitely is depression.  I think it would help you to look into medication and therapy before it gets even worse.  Best of luck to you.

I'll have to find what my paper says from my dr - this happened to me after I had surgery and a few days later started remembering it all.

Full blow panic attacks, wild mood swings, fear of stuff I would have never feared before like going to doctors or having surgery again, not wanting to even get up daily and not wanting to do things before I had surgery, wishing they wouldn't have saved me during surgery, crying jags, not being able to cope with things that I could before.

It went from a small outing to full blown depression and has only gotten worse over the past months.

sound familiar?

Situational depression occurs during a traumatic event in one's life.  For example a divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of job, serious financial issues.  Most people recover with time, others seem to just slip further into depression and need to seek professional help.  Therapy can help with this type of depression as well.  Hope this helps.
