We are all your friends here, and will listen to you.

I did not know I had depression when I first went to doctor.  He gave me a sick note, saying it was stress, and then after two weeks, asked me questions, and told me I had depression.  I did not know what it was.  I felt tired, and every day was a mountain to climb.  That was nearly 20 years ago, and I have now read everything there is about depression, and taken lots of different ant-depressants.  I know I will be on them for the rest of my life.

The first thing you must do is talk to a doctor, and tell them what you have told us.  Depression shows in so many different ways, that only a doctor can diagnose you.

Let us know what you decide to do.  Remember you can always "talk" to us.

Hi, you are never alone in this, we understand and care.  You need to see a psychiatrist for an evaluation, as you sound depressed.  Depression robs us of so much...happiness, motivation, enjoying things we used to, feeling alone, not wanting to be with others, the list goes on and on.  Depression can, and often just hits us out of the blue, and at times when we feel we have every reason NOT to feel this way.  So, it can be a bit of a puzzle to us.  Your husband mentioned stress, well stress leads to depression and/or anxiety, and when it reaches the point of interferring with our lives, it needs to be addressed.  Often depression has a root cause which is normally a traumatic event in our past that we have forgotten about and it was never properly dealt with.  It comes back to haunt us in adulthood as depression and/or anxiety, and this is where therapy is a big help.  Being able to discover what this is, talking about it and dealing with it can be a big help.  You and your psychiatrist can determine which route of treatment would best benefit you, therapy and/or medication.  I've been thru therapy and it was a big help, learned a lot about myself and my past, but I have to take medication, and probably always will.  Sometimes we feel because this is a mental issue that we shouldn't have the need for medication, but this is not so.  It's like any other illness that requires medication to control the symptoms. There is so much help for you, so please take advantage of it so you can get your life back.  We don't have to suffer through life!  Talk to us, we're always here.  We've been through it and do understand.  Stay with us for additonal support, this is a wonderful sight to learn that you are not alone.  I wish you all the best, and take care!
