one more question.... is it possible that 40 mg could be not as good as 20 mg?  Because a few weeks ago before going up to 40 she seemed to be doing a little better.

That kind of symptoms are you having that you are on celexa for?  My daughter has physical pain that they say is being caused by depression/anxiety.  She has been on Celexa for 4 weeks, on a dosage that ramped up from 10 mg to 40 .  She has been on 40 mg for about 2 weeks now and is not any better.

I found Celexa to numb feeling, more than it lifted them.   I had to stop taking it because I turned into an icequeen and couldn't feel any emotions.

It really depends on the person. Everyone is diffrent. A usual time period for SSRI's to "kick" in/work for people is about a few weeks. Most people see a change within 30 days. However this is not true for everyone. Lexapro the relative of celexa seems to kick in faster than most other SSRI's, but for all others I would say 2-3 weeks depending on the dose and particular patient.
