withdrawals or depression

I have been on anti depressants for 16 years (zoloft, effexor)...in the last few months I went from 150 mg Effexor to 75 mg.....tired and cranky all the time, thought it was the effexor....On July 12 doctor switched me from effexor 75 mg. to 20mg prozac...prozac made me rage...after 11 days of taking prozac, I quit taking everything (July 23rd).  Now I am irritable, short tempered and very impatient with people....are these withdrawals or signs of needing to to back on another anti depressant.

I had the zaps, poor coordination and the pin and needles....along with the irritability withdrawing from effexor.  Never want to use this med again.  The last two (2) days have been great with no meds...laughing again, enjoying music and stuff....So glad I stuck it out and kept my hands off of the pill bottle!  Thank you very much for your input.

If this is how you begin to see the warning signs that you believe that your beginning to become unwell possibly a combination, as perhaps the effexor lost it's effectiveness over time with yourself so that your depression began to leak through and began affecting your life in such personal areas. This as well as you having come off long term use of effexor in such a short space of time would have left its mark as i'd say. With taking the prozac for such a short space of time this would have possibly helped the withdrawals to some extent owing to its working relationship upon serotonin but i'm not a doctor as that's what i've been able to deduce from various forums / reading around the subject and from personal experience.

I'd check up on what serotonin withdrawal syndrome is and see how this fits with what your experiencing as went through tghis myself a few months back with "zaps", poor co-ordination and pins & needles in my finger joints but came through it, albeit with exploring other meds options.  Hang in there and get the support you need.
