Accutane and a couple of questions

I just started my first dose of Accutane today. I am just wondering if it is a good idea to keep working out 6 days a week? will I gain any weight being on Accutane? Will there be any long term side affects?
I read one of the side effects could be hearing voices in your head, if that happens does that mean I will hear them forever once I stopped taking the meds? Should I eat anything with vitamin A? and if I only have mild acne but have never had clear skin since grade 7 should I still take it?

I am not a doctor but I did work as a pharmacy tech for 4 years, and personally it scared the heck out of me all the warning labels we had to put on Accutane.  If you only have mild acne I'm surprised your doctor would prescribe this medication unless it really bothers you and you have exhausted all other avenues.  For a lot of people acne, especially just mild acne, is just part of life.  Good luck to you whatever you choose!

Hi, I actually just took 5 months of accutane and finished a couple months ago. You are fine to keep working out, nothing wrong with that. You shouldn't gain weight either. And there shouldn't be long term side effects. It's rare that you will have major side effects, or hear voices. There are some studies that say some people kill themselves while on this medicine, but if you don't get depressed then you have nothing to worry about. You can still have Vitamin A but I wouldn't overdo it. So I wouldnt take any vitamins with Vitamin A in it, but you can still eat oranges and have orange juice just remember accutane already has a lot of vitamin a in it. You are fine to still take it, thats what your doctor prescribed so I'm sure they thought that was best. good luck
