Follicular Keratosis

I had a punch biopsy on my vulva due to itchiness, burning and white coloring. The result came back at Follicular Keratosis. Anyone has any insight on this condition? Was only told it was benign. But, would that cause burning, itching, tearing skin of the labia and white skin? Thanks.

Also, why is it so hard to find any information about follicular keratosis online?

Thanks Dr. for responding to my post. I am a little concerned about what you said about "other differential diagnoses for follicular keratoses is squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva, vulvar psoriasis, fungal infections etc." What do you mean by that exactly?Do you mean I need to get the sample retested to rule out cancer and fugus? I asked my doctor to ask the pathologist to test for HPV after she told me the biopsy sample came back as follicular keratosis. My vulva and anus are always burning, itching and now the skin between the labia major and minor tears and splits and when it heals, the midline is turning white. The doctor was so concerned that she did a punch biopsy. I have an appointment in a week to look at how well the biopsy site has healed.

Also, my armits burn and itch. I have what looks like dark patches/rashes under arms which burns like heal. And odor!!!! Don't know if I have an infection or what! The last time I saw the dermatologist concerning excessive sweating and odor, she suggested botox. But, now with skin integrity compromised under my arms, I guess that will have to wait. Thanks for reading. Your response is greatly appreciated.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
The diagnosis made in your case is a  rare condition seen affecting the vulva.Follicular keratosis is postulated to be related to follicular injury, it is also  likely that the trauma of close shaving may be considered  as a significant etiologic factor  Dermoscopy and biopsy usually confirm the diagnosis .These symptoms may be part of the disease spectrum. Other differential diagnoses for follicular keratoses is squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva, vulvar psoriasis, fungal infections etc.Do clarify all your doubts by your treating gynecologist. Do keep us posted.
Take care and kind regards!
