Thanks.

My daughter is suffering from eczema from the time she was 2 months old. Her Ped prescribed antihistamine for itching. We are concerned about the side effects.

She does not have any immune system related issues.

Her itching increases during the night time and it has been severe since the past 2-3 weeks. Only now we started giving her antihistamine and are concerned about the side effects.

Is there any other way to stop her itching.

Hi,

Anti-histamine therapy is usually considered safe and can be given for upto 5-7 days in the appropirate dosage and under guidance to a child. However, each case is individual and therefor it may be best that you get this analyzed by a medical doctor to confirm the diagnosis and also get the right drug and dose clarified from him.

How long has your daughter had this condition? what is the extent of involvement? does she have any other immune system relted problems?

Let me know if you may have any other queries.
