Up-date : Went to a Dermatologist. He was in a rush to go to lunch, so gave me a brief lookover, declared the rash to be ezcema, scribbled out a prescription, and blazed out of the room without so much as a by your leave. Even heard the lock on the front door of the office click shut as soon as I shut the door. Hadn't even taken a step away from the door.
However, the cream he prescribed seems to be working, although it is a 1 Lbs. Tub of Triamcinolon Acetonide at a smaller strength. He said to apply it liberally and see him again in three weeks.
And as much as I would like to see a different dermatologist, living in a small country down, don't have much of a choice, and he knows it. :(
My mistake : The other prescription is NOT Terbinafine, but is Triamcinolon Acetonide Cream 0.1%
Thank-you so much for your response;
The Pharmacist seemed surprised when I handed over the prescription for the Fluconazole. It is for 4 x 150 mg tabs, one tab to be taken each week for 4 weeks. The topical prescription is for .01 % Terbinafine, largest tube the Pharmacy has available. And the Pharmacist was doubly surprised since these new prescription's followed on the heals of the Prednisone ( 10 mg x 3 for 4 days, 10 mg x 2 for 4 days, 10 mg x 1 for 4 days ), which was proceeded by a prescription of Sulfamethoxazole/Tmp 800-160 Tabs twice a day for 14 days.
Facial infection is gone, but rash only keeps getting worse.
This is on top of 80 mg x 2 tabs of Propranolol and 1 mg x 2 of Clonazepam for anxiety. And for discomfort the MD gave me a prescription of Hydroco/Apap 5-500m Tabs.
I am wary of taking all these medications, not to mention that I still feel kind of torn-up from what I've taken so far.
Will definitely keep in touch and let you know what happens.
Thank-you again for responding.
Hello,
From the symptoms that both of you are having the same symptoms and itching, contagious diseases like scabies and fungal infections need to be ruled out. Until and unless it is confirmed that it is a fungal infection, you should not use topical and oral antifungals. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get KOH examination of the skin scrapings done.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
