Ive had lumps appear on all my knuckles before but they went away after about a month, now a few months later theyve come back again, some handwash affects my skin so try to buy sensitive handwash, and fairy liquid is the worst, dont let that touch your skin as it's very powerful, try sudocrem or ask for some hydrocortisone cream
thank you for your input I have this small hard bump on my middle finger first bend from the nail It is reddish around the bottom, whitish on top These carbunkles ?? reoccur from one finger to another and eventually go away, no pus or other fluid , just disappear. My doctor says to leave them alone and they will disappear. which they do. my mother had them also at my age (77) any info.?
Hi,
Are there other symptoms present? This could be folliculitis or a boil. Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicle while a boil or skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Some boils can be caused by an ingrown hair while others can form as the result of a splinter or other foreign material that has become lodged in the skin. Others boils, such as those of acne, are caused by plugged sweat glands that become infected.
It would be best to have this evaluated for proper management. An antiobiotic may be indicated. A physical examination is important in determining the diagnosis. Warm compress may help and try to avoid picking the lesion. Take care and keep us posted.
