Thanks for the concern, I'm Asian, a Filipino to be exact.
I was just thinking....may I ask what race/ethnic group you belong to and if you have any tattoos? I hope you aren't offended ... this is purely SKIN related, as certain ethnic groups have skin conditions that are more prevalent amongst members. The question about tattoos is related to cysts and boils that are often associated with tattoos - whether it's from the embedded inks, trauma to the dermis/epidermis and/or the body's natural defense mechanisms reacting to the "foreign body/element" in the skin.
Take Care greensniper.
Like I said, there are so many varied skin conditions, many which appear identical, even a Board Cert. Derm. needs to perform a hands-on exam AND do further testing, such as a scraping or biopsy sent to a lab for analysis.
Even if I were a Specialist, in the exam room with you, there are only a limited number of skin conditions that I could diagnose by sight/palpating/exam without lab testing. I am so sorry that there isn't a better answer. I'm thankful that I'm NOT a Dermatologist because although I do love a good mystery, I do insist upon an ANSWER in the End, and in dermatology, there often is never one to be found without question.
Bottom line....you MUST seek an exam and lab testing. What if it's herpes, melanoma, parasites, a symptom of a serious/infectious/deadly infection ... or something harmful, but simple to eradicate like a yeast infection or nutritional imbalance/deficiency? If money is an issue, write me back. I have dozens of ideas/methods to use to obtain medical treatment if you're un/under-insured.
May the Lord Heal You and Fill You With His Everlasting Shalom.
I also have the same on my shoulder, though it's not on an "ant's bite"-like lump. There's no lump actually, just whitehead-like things. Are they the same?
***ONE*** POSSIBILTY (I want to be CLEAR this is NOT an Answer...not having any pics or oppt'y to examine it/you, take a Pt. History, etc).... but going off the appearance of white 'hair-like' 'strings' inside its borders, it might be a form of herpes zoster. You need to see your GP/Internist, if not a Board Certified Dermatologist, and have it examined. There are some very effective creams for these types of lesions, but none available OTC, only via Rx, so a Dr's visit will be necessary even if I, or another board member, diagnosed it correctly online. Insurance, or one of those free insurance cards found at doctors' offices and pharmacies, should cover the cream/treatment and most physicians offer a sliding scale or "cash pay" (meaning no insurance, not literal cash) discount if you don't have insurance. Additionally, nearly all Rx/Drug Companies/Manufacturers offer online coupons and/or programs that offer free medication. Forms are posted on their websites for download, your physician fills them out, submits them with your Rx, and you'll receive up to 90 days of medication at little to no cost. I hope I've helped you in some way.
