Index fingertip pain

My index finger has chronic pain when it is exposed to cold temps. or if my circulation is lessened in that arm. It's just that finger and only at the finger nail, cuticle area. The feeling is similar to getting it smashed into something. Also, when no pain is present, if I hit it ever so slightly on something, it might as well have been smashed in a door, the feeling would be the same!

Thanks. I'm not sure if there's been trauma. Years ago I smashed some fingers, but don't remember which ones. So I don't know if that's it. It's not painful all the time, but when it is, it's very uncomfortable. Is there anything to do for it? Besides trying to keep it warm?

Hi,

It appears that this may be case of claudication or Raynaud's phenomenon. However, this may have to be confirmed by means of an examination or by tests as advised by a doctor.

have you had any injuries or trauma or disorders in these areas in the past?

You may also need to protect your finger in case it gets some kind if injury, since you may not be aware of it immediately since there would not be any pain.

Hope this helped, let me know if you may need any more information.
