Is this Rosacea/Acne

I have this for about 4 years, but never saw a doctor about it. I treat it with over the counter acne meds, but it just won't go away. It just keeps the pimples at bay. They usually don't open, sometimes they are very painful and sometimes itchy. I have serious problems a few days after drinking red wine. Then my face looks twice as bad with the redness and outbreaks. I'm in my mid 40's, female. I eat very healthy, and I'm activ, non-smoker. It's getting to the point where I really need help, because it affects my self-esteem. I think it is adult acne and rosacea, but not sure. I was hoping somebody could tell me what it is and if this could be treated with laser and if the insurance would likely pay for it (united). I don't like the idea of taking antibiotics over a long term. Thanks a lot.

it sounds like classic rosasea. I have been reading up on the condition. I question whether I have it. I have had a red face for about 6 months now but I don't have the bumps which is usu symptomatic of rosecea. It isn't acne. It comes with the condition. go see a derm. it is treatable but the longer you wait the harder it is to control it. There is no cure unfortunately. read up on the condition. there are certain things you should avoid like alcohol.Sorry to hear about your condition. I feel the same self esteem effect. Good luck.

Are there any dermatologists here who could give their opinion or anybody with medical background and experience? Thanks

It seems now my picture is gone. I can't see it anymore and don't know how to re-post it. Any advice? Thank you.

I have tried pro-active, and just like the neutrogena advanced solutions it keeps the pimples at bay. Neutrogena is actually way cheaper, only $22 for the night/day and cleaning solution, and works better for me. It won't dry out my skin like pro-active. The picture actually shows my face as good as it will ever get anymore. I'm not big on sugar at all, only a bit dark chocolate here and there and I quit drinking red wine. I am sure the underlaying redness on the cheeks and chin is more than just acne. Thanks

Try proactive, the 3 creames it come with help illiminate and repair. Also im guessing you are having some type of reaction to sugar. Limit the sugar intake, chocolate, wine and so on. Wash your Face 2ic a day, dont use any soaps or anything. If you feel that your face is dry get a non scented sensitive skin lotion.
