Over use of corticosteroid on penis glans

I used corticosteroids on my penis glans for over 3 months, because of a Candidal balanitis, but my glans skin became thinner and after each intercourse, appeared lots of deep cracks and scars.
9 months after I stopped the corticosteroids use, my glans is full of scars , deep cracks and depressions because of friction of the sex.
I am desperated and I want to know if it's reversible and if have some dermatological process which can help me to recovery my glans! If the tissue lost can be recovered and the deep depressions too.
Please help me! I am quite depressed and my life is over!
Thank you in advance! I hope you will help me!

Ive read that these sensations are because of skin atrophy due overuse of corticosteroids.
It's hard to live the life without wellness!
I am thankful for jemma and steroidsparanoia. You are friendly people and I feel moved when I read yours attempts to help me

Hi,
I used Advantan - Methylpredinisolone aceponate 0.1% for 8 days, twice a day, in a period of 12 days - and now I'm feeling a burning sensation that gets very painful after masturbating and the skin of my penis looks much more reddish than before using it. I stopped using it almost 2 months ago. I was googling for some possible solution and found this link:

https://www.researchgate.net/post/If_you_are_a_dermatologist_is_there_a_proven_method_to_reverse_skin-thinning_due_to_long_use_of_topical_steroid

One of the repplies said that PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) could be used for skin thinning.

Now, I'm not sure if my skin has thinned, or to what extent, but has anyone tried that? I've been reading some articles and it seems possible, since PRP can induce fibroblast and keratinocyte growth.

Other reasonable alternatives in that post was tracolimus and ammonium lactate, although the former seems more risky since it might be related to cancer.

Guys, I found a cream which might be helpful for these kind of skin issues. It's called Banival, contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and other components which help the skin recover. I am already using it for a month, so hopefully it will speed up the process.

I tried vitamin E oil for a while
In between using the cream that caused me the damage I had and to some extent still do have. It helped lube the area and keep it hydrated I guess but hard to tell what it exactly did of benefit for me. Best one is to leave it to nature. But expect stretchmarks and some capillaries to show. As well as dry skin now and then.

I hope I don't have to use and of these type of creams again as I'm now scared of them.

87 weeks on,  my penis glans is still affected but nothing like it was. See my journal entries for the latest updates. And please be clear. I used hydrocortisone 1% cream; nothing stronger. This is one of the least potent but still caused nasty side effects which I am still recovering from now. I used it too liberally and for too long on and off. Mostly back to normal but still some issues and stretchmarks are permanent apparently.

I have been using daktacort every day for a few weeks now due to what I and the clinic thought was a fungal infection and I've noticed that my glans has started to go wrinkly and just a strange texture. I am thinking of laying off the cream and seeing how it goes. Is there any update on the original question?

I'm leaving it to nature. Much improved.  All those people who've recovered or had problems in the past; maybe you could update us on what your story was and how it ended.

To anyone suffering from this condition, also called 'Penile Dysthesia', try LDN or Low Dose Naltrexone. It may help to alleviate the pain sensation. It's a drug that helps to boost your immune system by enhancing endorphine production.

There may not be a visible improvement, but you may improve the pain sensation. I'm currently on day two of this prescription medication and am noticing significantly less pain.

Has anyone ever tried vitamin E oil? That's what I'm trying, now. There were alarmingly flat parts to it which have now gone back to normal. Still not fully recovered, though.

Skin regenerates itself. It'll just take a little time. The thickness will return. I saw a nurse yesterday. A Dr last week. Both said the same. See your Dr an nurse. Ask them.

What happened?  Did your penis glans return to normal ???? Or did the skin rethicken.  I used hydrocortisone 1% for about 4 weeks on and off. I developed thin , wrinkly skin . It would also go red and shiny. At one point the skin cracked and bled. I'd be interested to hear how things turned out for you . In total I used the cream for about 4 weeks. But with breaks in between. Haven't used it for 3 weeks now and have noticed improvements.  If u do masturbate use lube. And keep your chin up. I too am suffering depression from this . I have a post on this subject also. Please feel free to watch my progress. Hopefully the glans will recover.

Dear Caiorocha,

Please don't worry.
I'm sure that your skin can be healed with time.

Aloe vera is an excellent natural herb(in fact its a type of cactus), which has powerfull healing properties and can heal damaged skin, burns, cracks, and scarred tissue.
It is also anti-inflammatory.
Literally it will rejuvenate your skin cells.
And it is bursting with nutrients.

Coconut oil is also soothing and very antifungal.
High qaulity manuka honey is also good for inflamation and infection.
Tea tree oil(at the right dilution with water) is highly antifungal.
If you still have balanitis, check out Dr Erik Bakker on the net.
He's an authority on combatting yeast infections.
Diet is also very importamt.
Don't worry.
There are some powerful natural treatments and you can restore your skin.
Wishing you all the best.

Because of a little fungal infection that would go away alone, and doctor excess, I destroyed my life! =(
I hope that will be next to normal someday... I still hope.
The technology and science are evolved, and I can't trust that I will be with theses depressions on glans, and scars...
all that I read don't helps me and I need to have a hope of total recovery...

If you refer to skin healing I assume it should recoer if u stop having intercourse and allow it to heal! I believe u might be having some bacterial infection which causing ur skin to pill off as u having intercourse, thus like myself and jemma recommanded u use sea salt and saok ur instrument into it twice a day, wear cotton underware and avoid ANY KIND OF FRICTION, do not use any chemicals I advice even moisturisers just sea salt and water untill it fully recovers maybe it will after a month to three months....

As for the appearnce I can predict, I believe my damage if time cannot change it then only miracle from god would but I have completely lost faith in doctors!

Your need to draw back the foreskin and wash the area.  do not use any soaps or bubble baths or anything, but you can wash is a water with some added salt in.  You can also apply normal live culture yogurt in the morning and again before going to bed and moisturise in between.  Do NOT have any sex, apply the moisturisers as advice given to you in the previous messages.

If you have a fungus infection, which is likely because you have a sensation of burning, you must not have sex at all, because you will be contaminating your sexual partner with the fungus.

Once the burning sensation have gone leave it a few days before attempting any sex.

If you carry on without taking on board any advice that you have been given, the condition will never improve.
