Wife has a persistent rash for two years

My wife has had a very itchy, red rash for about two years now. They appear as red bumps, but she scratches them open quite frequently. I tell her to stop, but she insists that it's far too itchy to ignore. They are quite sporatic and unsightly. Thankfully, it has yet to spread to her face, although it's almost everywhere else. After seeing numerous doctors (both allergists and dermatologists), they ruled it was contact dermatitis. However, she has stayed away from any and everything the doctors have warned her against. They are quite dumbfounded, and at this point clueless. We have used odorless detergent, and many other products made to accommodate a lifestyle for those with rashes or sensitive skin. We are, quite frankly, at our wits end. She has had this rash to varying degrees for two years now. It has devastated her life, and we seek a permanent solution to her problem.
