Long term effects of steroidal ointments?

What are the long term effects of steroidal ointments?
I have been switched to Dovonex for the treatment of psoriasis, but experienced achey joints and hormonal fluctuations after prolonged use of Desonide (0.05%).  I was wondering if this is just a coincidence (that I am just naturally predisposed to having thyroid problems) or if I misused the ointment.

You said it can cause cushing's syndrome-like symptoms; can it cause LOW cortisol symptoms?  I read somewhere that stopping corticosteroid ointments suddenly can cause adrenal problems- is that true?

I am currently using clobetasol (0.05%) for the worst outbreak of psoriasis I've had....ever.  I've been using it for about six months, with a few two week breaks (due to laziness).  This week, I was prescribed eltroxin (0.15MG) after several very low cortisol readings (morning cortisol, blood test) and subclinical hypothyroid readings.

SO, two questions:
Is there a connection between irregular hormone regulation and topical corticosteroids?
Does a psoriatic outbreak have a hormonal connection?

Hello,
Long term side effects of topical steroids include vision problems, persistent headache, increased thirst or urination, unusual weakness, unusual weight loss, dizziness and cushing’s syndrome like symptoms. Ache in the joints is more explainable by thyroid diseases and it should be properly evaluated.
I hope it helps Take care and please do keep us posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
