butt chafing

I am not proudly THE KING OF CHAFING! Why?......I have been chafing since I was 19 years old I am now bout 2 be 22 and I don't mean chafing off and on I mean eevvveeerrrryyy siiinnnnggggllllee day within those years I have suffered this burn from my buttcheeks even as we speak, powders really help the pain but don't cure it except gold bond yes its icy cool but it also burns worse then it already did.Up until last week I have never seen a doctor about it cuz I was embarassed but thinking I was finally going to get it fixed he tells me to leave it alone for 7 to 10 days and I was pissed cuz I could have figured that out myself! He told me not to use powders,do not scrub your butt with soap cuz it leaves residue causing irritation..basicly just let it heal by itself but I cant cuz when I just walk for more than 10 seconds without powder it starts a fire down there how is it supposed to heal?I cant just lay there airing my *** out for 10 days so basicly im screwed,I'm not fat at all n I lift weights when I don't hurt as bad somedays BUT 1 thing I did figure out is that my cheeks are kinda 2 close to each other cuz I looked at my girlfreinds but and she kinda had a tiny gap between her cheeks n mine was smashed together like a grilled cheese sandwich but the doctor said that that shouldn't be why cuz then all overweight people would have this problem 2....Hmmmm why wont mine heal! Please someone give me an answer!!!!!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

I understand you are highly anxious about this but if a diffrential for your case will be a dermatitis and a fungal infection then these skin conditions may persist for quite some time.Dermatitis and some forms of inflammatory skin reactions may be mind boggling for most physicians. These are complex skin diseases with a genetic and autoimmune component. Some forms of skin conditions may even be aggravated by stress. Constant rubbing of the skin and  increased moisture in the area may encourage intertriginous yeast infections.I suggest that you have a culture of the skin scrapings done to ascertain if a fungal infection is causing your symptoms so this may be managed accordingly.

Candida or Jock Itch, which are basically two sides of the same coin.  In other words, a yeast infection.

I'm a skinny person and I have the same problem.  I am walking around for 10 hours a day at work and the chafing develops when I get extra sweaty (like now in the summer).  I havent really tried to put anything on it, except once i tried my daughters diaper rash cream and it just burned like hell and made it sticky.  So I've decided to just tough it out, but if someone has some kind of solution I would love to hear it.  It seems to be much worse lately which is why i searched it on the internet and found your post and what you describe is exactly my situation (gone when i wake up - no rash or bumps, just redness -).  Also my butt cheeks are smashed together too.  Have you came up with some kind of treatment?  I have had this for a couple of years, but it's not everyday, just when I get really sweaty.  By the end of the day i can't hardly walk without being very careful.

Hi there,

What you need to try is Lanacane anti-chafing gel. That will heal it in no time!!!

Best of luck

I am a small person and have had redness, itching, chafing and bleeding for over 5 years now. I went to the doctor and she seemed embarrassed and said if was from my vagina. I knew this was not true. She had not desire to help. I had a male doctor that gave me an RX for some cream once. I helped temporarily. I have to use toilet paper with lotion to keep my butt skin from tearing. I also use wet wipes to clean the area after wiping then I dry it. This keeps me from going insane from the pain. The other problem I have is insane itching. I can’t stand that. I keep thinking that it’s trying to heal. But I know it’s just a symptom of the problem. Can anyone help me?

To the men out there.  I've had this problem for a while too.  I had pain between my cheeks, groin area, and in my armpits.  I started realizing, that while I'm not overly hairy, my hair is very coarse.  I began trimming my pits with clippers and using Nair for men in my crack, and groin.  It has worked very well, I'm now looking for something a little more permanent, but you might want to consider it.

talcum powder & loose underwear, shower > moitsurize >  talcum powder and try to keep the cheeks sepertated, everynight. & whenever going out a tiny drop of talcum powder is the trick, keep the area dry, as dry as you can but miosturize everytime your out the shower leave it for 5 minutes then talcum powder up, in no time it should be clear as a bell

I would recommend the Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel from Monistat. It works great with chafing and its goes on like a gel but with a silky powder finish. This is great because it lasts for most of the day including when you're sweating a lot. You can check out the video reviews here:
www.expotv.com/Monistat-Soothing-Care-Chafing-Relief-P/O-1gJn
or check the monistat website and it will show you where they are sold like Drugstore.com.

Its also great for men too when they are having issues chafing

I have the same problem.  Especially after walking around at work for hours on end.  Go to a larger-sized wal-greens or cvs and pick up some Bag Balm.  It's the best stuff for chafing in your crack.  might want to get some rubber gloves to put it on tho.....lol

I have this problem at work but what has worked for me is to apply vaseline to that area before work and that seems to control it- I agree with safety 214 in that it does help to trim the affected area so hair doesn't make it worse.  I tried this technique after reading that marathoners use it to prevent chafing on nipples and other areas affected by rubbing over running long distances.  I rarely have any problems with it now.  Hope it helps!

I have the same problem!!! after playing soccer for about a half hour my butt seems to spontaniously light on fire. as soon as i would get home i would try taking a shower and lather some soap down there and then try some gold bond after i dried off, but that only made everything burn worse.  i just found out that if i wear gold bond before, it seems to feel better, but if i forget im screwed. and my buttcheeks are rather close together as well and one of my skinnier friends said i was crazy and never heard of this before.

My symptoms were similar to those already posted:  redness/discoloration on the underside of my buttocks immediately  around the anus. the redness spreading out in a 4 inch radius.  whenever I engaged in a lot of walking,  that irritated area would sprout raw patches which spotted blood.  i took the doctor's advice at the start of this topic:  cleaned the area, applied 1% hydrocortisone cream (I used Prep H, anti-itch formula with the 1% hydro), then atop that cream, a layer of Aquaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin.  Did this routine twice/day.  I felt immediate relief and within three days the area was looking MUCH better and the bleeding/spotting had stopped. The doc said to try this routine for 7 days and if it doesn't get better, see your doc in person.  I suspect that is because one should not use the hydro indefinitely and/or your problem may be fungus and not just a rash/chafe.  I do continue to use ample amounts of the Aquaphor prior to my long walks and  very small amounts on a daily basis. btw: previous to all of this, I tried vasoline petroleum jelly down there and it didn't work.  The only downside of this treatment is it gets very  greasy down there but I would rather change my underwear frequently (maybe I will try panty liners?) than to continue to suffer with the chaffing and bleeding.

Wow this is actually a common problem I didn't know... Anyways I feel your plight however I didn't see a dr bcz its an embarrassing issue although I was totally about to cure it myself. Don't really know what triggerred this but trying to keep the area as dry as possible is the trick but its hard to do bcz of sweating by movement. Tried powders that didn't work, baking soda didn't work, usong wipes to clean definitely didn't work bcz it just made the area sorer and redder. So after all that I decided to just use plain ole vaseline (after thoroughly bathing & drying the area completely as possible) and within hours or days can't reall remember but it was swift - the inter surface of my buttocks ws back to normal. Dependoing on the source of yoUr issue this could definitely work.

I have the same problem. I've had it for 25 years. The only thing I've found that has worked is applying moisturizers (the more greasy the better) to use as a lubricant and using wet wipes instead of TP. I've been looking at some newer products. The powder gels do nothing for me. I need something that makes the daily chaffing slide.

Follow-up from my post of January 23, 2011:  The intial treatment of the soreness/redness/spot bleeding did indeed work as described.  Since that time, I use the Aquaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin on a daily basis after I have washed the area thoroughly.  Just a very small amount has keep the problem from recurring.  Walgreens has a similar product which is less expensive--they stock it right next to the AHOE (funny !).  Although, with the amount I use, one jar of AHOE lasts me 12 months.  I did try vasoline but it did not have the staying power as does the AHOE--like I said, once/day and problem solved.

I have had the same problem for the past 2 to 3 years, i started running and i would get the rash, stinging, itchy, blood spotting and i have racked my brain trying to figure out the problem. I thought i was lactouse, then i went to a doctor and he gave me a colonoscopy, and found nothing, but yet it continues. I have used preperation h wipes and that just burns more, and i use tucks cream, that helps and it actually goes away, but then when i go running again, and not even for a long period of time, it starts up again, usually after about 10 mins into my run, i am shocked to know now that this is a common issue amoung many me and women, so i know im not alone, but please, if anyone knows what it is let me know...this is ust insane.

had this problem from hiking, no signs or rash or redness after a week but hurts like hell I can barely wear underwear because the seams rub and cause pain. Someone told me could be caused by a fungus. I had jock itch years ago from hiking and every now and then it will come back, thinking the bad chafe acted like a petri dish for jock itch to spread. Trying anti fungal creams, see if this works. something for others to consider if the problem doesnt go away and have had something like jock itch in the past.

I also have the same problem. I have been dealing with this problem for about 4 to 5 years now. I have been given multiple creams and it didnt work. Then today I went to my gastronlogist and she said there isnt anything she could do cuz she said it is a tear between my buttcheecks and a rash as well and it looks like a open wound. So she told me to see my determologist. I got to call her tomorrow to make a appointment

I know this might sound crazy but I have chafing between my cheeks after working and sweating from a lot of walking. My butt check are pressed together tight. The only thing that works like magic is carmex. I put it on the reddened area it stops the burning and helps it heal quickly

Try Balmex adultcare rash cream. It worked wonders after I tried everything. I bought it at Walgreens at 11:00pm due to my pain from chaffing and even some bleeding. After applying I had a good night sleep and I have no pain after one treatment.

Just purchase some Balmex adult rash cream, it burns like hell when I first applied it and about ten minutes later I'm starting to feel some type of relief, let's see how I feel in the morning after a good nite rest.
