A history,and how it started,associated symptoms like fever,itching would help  to come to some diagnosis.As  spotter i can think of a viral rash,ampicillin drug allergy,nothing serious though.

Thanks -- I actually had previously posted... I figured a picture would help...here is a copy of my previous post -- it sounds like you concur with pediatrician -- was looking for a 2nd opinion (she's my baby after all :) ):

I have a 24 month old, who, about 2 weeks ago, started getting very puffy eyes, and a red bumpy rash on her face, neck, arms and legs. The pediatrician believes it was the sunscreen that we were using - we started giving her Benaydrl.   The rash seems to be clearing, flash forward another week, and now we have very puffy eyes, with a red splotchy rash ( not bumps) all over her face and belly, as well as a low (~100) fever, and a runny nose. Upon taking her back, the dr. suggested this is a virus; does this sound correct? Could it be allergies to dogs or pollen?

and it was very itchy -- arms neck, eyes.  It seems to be very slightly better today.

Oh, and wife and myself both have vicious sore throats today -- wonder if we are just catching up with baby has :)

From the symptoms you have described, it sounds like the rash can be due to the viral infection which is also causing the fever and runny nose.The itchy rash can be due to hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes.They are usually idiopathic but can be caused by viral infections or allergies also.

Give antihistamines like Benadryl or Zyrtec to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamine such as Benadryl is used usually at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms.Also apply calamine on the rashes.
You may give Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine.

If the symptoms persist, then you can consult an immunologist.Skin testing has to be done to rule out any allergies.
