Please help identify my strange lip sore, swollen lip similar to a canker sore!

I normally get cold sores when stressed or in the sun etc. and take medication to reduce their frequency. But in the past few months I've been getting a different tingling that the. swells into a large sore that will partly come inside my mouth and form a canker sore. I am not sure if these are cold sores under the surface of my lip swelling, canker sores that are also on my lip, or something else!
