Rash at the back of neck followed by painful and hot sensation

It started with a simple rash at the back of my neck that spread down the right side of my throat and down a small portion below the neck on the right. The doctor gave me some cream. There was no fever nor headache. However the Skin has become so sensitive that a mere touch seems like an electric shock on that part of the skin. secondly, it pains me on touching that area and sometimes the pain  spreads to the muscles of the head creating what looks like tension headache (but very briefly). Sometimes too, when I drink water or eat anything, It feels hot as it goes down the right side of the throat at first.....then it becomes normal eating or drinking thereafter.

I sincerely appreciate your effort and wise counsel. I have seen a dermatologist and he has given me some prescription which I have started using. There is an improvement in the condition but I still have this painful sensation especially at the first instance of drinking or eating. I also still have a minor pain that comes on and off from the base connecting my head with the neck.....behind my ears on a particular bone/muscle. I nevertheless thank you very much for your interest in my case.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Two possibilities are possible for such a rash. Firstly it can be due to contact dermatitis like poison ivy and second possibility is of shingles. Although shingles typically presents as painful blisters but if there is a rash, but it does not resemble a typical shingles outbreak, skin scrapings from the sores can also be used.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get a biopsy done because until the diagnosis is confirmed treatment cannot be started.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
