Rash on penis head (around urethra exit)

Last year I had a rash on my scrotum. It was like a small circular patch of weird skin. My family doctor prescribed a topical corticosteroid called prevexHC which made my rash disappear!

Almost immediately after, I started to develop a rash on my penis head (around the urethra exit). I'm guessing the penis head was resting on the scrotum rash and it transferred. I used the prevexHC but it did nothing. I just turned 25, I am a health fanatic, and I haven't had good sex in so long because I'm afraid to infect a girl with this rash. I've read that rashes thrive in moist dark environments. Which is why I refuse to do intense exercise (would cause me to sweat) or have sex (vagina = moist dark environment and i could infect a girl).

Anyways, I went to a highly regarded dermatologist. And he gave me these samples of Dermatop Prednicarbate Emollient cream 0.1%. It was working excellent to stop the growth of rash. However! I ran out.

I went back to him a few days ago, and he gave me a prescription for a big tube of Dermatop Prednicarbate Emollient cream 0.1%. While i was there, he burnt off a portion of the rash with liquid nitrogen which did nothing (rash grew back as it heals). After 3 days of healing, I used the Dermatop Prednicarbate Emollient cream 0.1% and it has stopped the rash from growing, but it's not killing/reducing/atrophying the rash itself.

Please any advice on how i can get rid of this rash?

Thanks for the comment Dr. Kaur,

It may be my soap... I bought some jergens mild soap and i used it and my condition looked a bit better. I will continue to use it.

The rash near the urethra seems to be gone but when i wake up sometimes it's back. I will continue to use prednicarbate on it.

Question: Is the calamine lotion for pain?

There is one area beside my urethra that has really bothered me: http://i51.tinypic.com/mskk7k.jpg <-- see that super shiny part? That part has gone away when i used the prednicarbate on it. That red circle around it is the aftermath of my liquid nitrogen treatment.

Hello,
From the symptoms and treatment that you have described, it looks like eczema or dermatitis skin because steroids and emollients are very helpful in both of them. Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites).

Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also you can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid but these should be used only after prescription. Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
