SWEAT

MY 17 YR OLD DAUGHTER HAS A VERY BIG SWEAT PROBLEM. SHE IS ALWAYS TOTALLY WET UNDER HER ARMS. LAST DECEMBER SHE DID HAVE AN OPERATION TO STOP THE PROBLEM. ONLY THE SWEAT ON HER HANDS IS GONE. THE SURGEON SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT SHE STILL IS WET UNDER HER ARMS AND THAT IT COMES FROM HER BACK. THE SWEAT STILL IS DEFINITELY UNDER THE ARMS BUT NOW ON HER BACK AND SOMETIMES LEGS ASWELL. WHAT CAN I DO? IT IS VERY EMBARRESING FOR HER. SHE MUST ALWAYS COVER HERSELF WITH SOMETHING TO HIDE THE WETNESS. ANOTHER DR SAID STRESS IS CAUSING IT. THIS DR DID BLOOD TESTS.

didn't your surgeon tell you that there was a chance of compensentory sweating and if he didn't he should have. it's been known that ets can cause compensentory sweating in the back and legs after said surgery.ets really is only for people with minor hyperhidrosis mostly occurring in the hands it has not had good results for people with more extensive hyperhidrosis such as your daughters. i myself suffer from hyperhidrosis i'm 23 yrs. old. i've tried the drysol and the certain dri. they dry your skin out so it cracks the skin not stopping the sweating so that when you do sweat it stings in the little cracks where youir skin split. skin specialists do nothing they don't even know what to do with you except shoot you up with botox. which works maybe for a bit but it's costly and painful many many many injections to the area. i've only found some not complete but some comfort in prescriptions. robinul forte so far has worked the best for me but i can no longer afford it. $699.47 with out insurance for a month supply. i'm now on propantheline for $114.99 for a month supply but it's not working nearly as well as the robinul. this next month i'll be trying oxybutynin cost unknown but less than $699.47, so we shall see. also when i went off my father's insurance plan when i turned 23 i tried to apply for my own insurance and was denied by blue cross. i had been deemed HIGH RISK, and the only way they will take me is if i had the surgery your daughter had (which from what i've read and heard doesn't work) and was symptoms free for one year. can you believe that. unbelievable! so, i feel your guys pain. also i'm sure it's hard for her to date and attend social events. for the fear of everyone judging you, and people are just cruel. believe me i know! in your daughters surgery did they cauterize the nerves, remose them, or put claps on them?

Hi,

What surgery was done? Could you post us some information on that.

Hyperhidrosis (over sweating) could have serious underlying causes that may require surgery or antibiotics in severe cases. Only your health care provider can diagnose these types of issues.

If your doctor should deem your sweating is abnormal, ask him/her about Drysol. Drysol is aluminum chloride hexahydrate and when applied to the underarms works to block the sweat glands and plug the pores. It is a prescription medication and should only be used with a doctor's guidance.

Your doctor may suggest an in office surgical or laser treatment.

Check your local drug store or grocery store for an antiperspirant/deodorant. Try wearing a plain, white, 100% cotton t-shirt underneath your normal shirts. Try anti-bacterial soaps to kill additional bacteria while you shower.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for the symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how she is doing.

Regards.
