This site says yes the immune system fights it off. It would be a low-risk virus type. Hope this helps. As for the infidelity, it would be hard to say. I think the article says we can be carriers for years with no symptoms, but likely a fresh exposure occurring could result in an immediate outbreak. But you know how you can have the same stuff on your hands (germs) and it gets in the area. I actually got some fungus, like toe fungus, in the crack of my leg. But I did sweaty work for many days without a shower. I'm certain though that I got it on myself from touching the toe or dirty shower/towel and getting on my healthy skin first. Good luck. I'm having the warts on my legs. But my bad pap was 2004, got fixed. I would expect the immune system to have gotten this one too. My fiance of 5 years had to go for violence, so maybe he was a carrier and kept giving it to me. Or my body isn't fighting off the low risk thigh warts, they come and go. Bugs me. None directly on the private area skin, just thighs. But that link above clarified for me that it appears that way too.
My question revolves around whether this phenomenon of having them and then disappearing without treatment is possible for genital warts.
Secondly is it possible to have this condition without sexual contact. I am trying to discern whether my spouse contracted this by having sex outside our marriage or if this is something that could have multiple causes and is not 100% a result of sexual interaction
Hi
Skin colored growths on the skin may be skin tags, fibroma, molluscum and warts. Based on your post, molluscum may be a likely differential as this skin condition may revert spontaneously given time. Molluscum, like warts is caused by a virus. The bumps of molluscum however, appears to be very characteristic. They are shiny well defined bumps with a depressed or umbilicated center. Skin tags on the other and may fall off given time. Filiform warts may also present similarly like skin tags.
At this point, if the bumps were warts then it is possible that you may still transmit the virus. A positive HPV infection may render one a carrier of the virus and thus, may spread it through direct contact.
