What Dermatologist to see??

Hello.

I recently noticed some bumps on the base and shaft of my penis.  I'm trying to figure out if they are just fordyce spots or something more serious like herpes or warts.
My question isn't about diagnosis, it's about what type of doctor to see.

I assume I need to see a dermatologist, but I'm not sure which if any dermatologists see these types of cases in my area.
Do all/ most dermatologists see these types of cases?  Is it normal to book an appointment with a dermatologist and have the Dr. walk in expecting an acne problem or something similar and I ask about a possible STD condition?
I feel uncomfortable calling and describing my case to one of the nurses to see if the dermatologist will see me, so I'm very confused as to how I should proceed, and what type of doctor to see.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query. Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection).

Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
