Why would a bump on my penis shaft turn into a laceration?

I am a 43 year old male. I have been married for 2 years but was not sexually active for 3 years before my wife. I recently developed 2 little bumps a on my penis shaft and due to friction on my underwear they rubbed off and have turned into open sores. It is not spreading or anything. No painful urination either or no discharge. My wife does have HPV-1 which she takes Valtrex for. Is it possible that developed HPV-2 from foreplay? I have had no fever or illness. I am quite healthy. It doesn't hurt unless my underwear runs against it so I have been wearing loose clothing and using Vaseline on it. It's been about a week since it started.  We are extremely loyal to each other and she urges me to go to the doctor so I know she wouldn't do that if she was fooling around and is as concerned as I am. I'm just curious as to what this may be before I see a doctor because I am the kind of person that doesn't like to go to the doctors. If anyone can offer some insight into this it would be much appreciated.

Given your wife's medical history, I would take her urging and head to the doctor to see what the issue is.  It's impossible to tell you for sure what is happening based off of a brief post and description- your doctor is going to need to see you in person and gather a bit more information on your personal medical history.  I now doctors are not fun and it can be difficult to decide to go see one- but listen to your wife and go ahead and get to one.
