growth on bottom right lip

Here is what is currently going on with my lip. I have a growth on my bottom right lip. I keep picking at it when it gets extremely hard. When i take the scab off its grows bigger and it bleeds alot for a long time. I had this bump or growth which it appears to be for a month now. My doctor gave me some pills to cure it but it did not work because he thought it was a cold sore. No puss or discharge comes from it just blood when i pick at it. I do not know what to do.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to actinic cheilitis or leukoplakia. In actinic cheilitis, there is thickening whitish discoloration of the lip at the border of the lip and skin. Leukoplakia is a white lesion that can't be removed simply by rubbing the mucosal surface. It may occur in response to chronic irritation from dentures or from tobacco use or pipe smoking, or it may represent dysplasia.

I feel that a biopsy is required to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
