before this typhoid i had some amount of hair fall but not that much but at the time i was having that problem.i noticed a lot of hair falling(during the 15 days tenure of typhoid).even though i did not have that much severe typhoid..i shaved off my head and now i find that the density of hair has reduced...at the back of my head i have some patches which are small and are like slots...whenever i apply oil to that portion or something watery falls on it i have mild itching..and this is the same area where i see bald patches..currently i met an ayurvedic doctor who gave me medicines to reduce toxicity of my body..nobody else  in my family(including my grand father and my uncle) has hairloss only my father was bald after 35 years of age...it could be telogen effluvium(because of typhoid) but i am not sure whether a person has itching in telogen effluvium..yet the patches were formed after typhoid....there was an initially afftected area at the back of my head before typhoid..it was very less....but now the area has expanded...the crown is somewhat visible....as since i live in shimla.there are no trichologists here...should i visit some trichologist????.please suggest whom should i meet up for this problem..

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For such kind of hair thinning, I would like to rule out alopecia aereata, male pattern baldness, hormonal imbalance or telogen effluvium. It is nonscarring alopecia characterized by diffuse hair shedding, often with an acute onset. There is a chronic form also which persists for a longer duration and starts with insidious onset. Sometimes nutritional deficiencies also contributes to hair loss and for this I suggest you to take some nutritional supplements for some days.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
