Can a skin burn on the penis caused by Zyclara be cured?

I was prescribed Zyclara by a Dermatologist to treat Molluscum Contagiousum.  The Zyclara caused a skin burn on the head of my penis....looked red, shiny, kind of like glass.  The texture of the skin came back but the color is still red and it is painful after sex and/or hiking or any exercise that causes chafing.  I have since been to two other dermatologists: 1 prescribed Triamcinolone cream and told me to use it one week on and then take a one week break for several months.  I did that for two months and nothing improved.  Another Dermatologist thought my immune system caused the reaction and prescribed Tacrolimus ointment...told me to put it on until the color came back.  I did that for 3 months and didn't notice any significant change....only occasional peeling of the skin next to the head of my penis!  Is there ANYTHING that will fix my skin?

Did you report the reaction to the first doctor?  It's important to always report these reactions.  For this drug specifically, you can even go to the web site and use a contact us form to report an 'adverse event' (select that option from the drop down menu)- http://www.valeant.com/about/contact-us

Based off a quick google search, it sounds like infection caused by fungus may also be a common side effect.  The Triamcinolone cream, actually would potentially make that worse.  Tacrolimus is more for an eczema rash- so it might be that you need to be checked for a fungal infection instead.  Head back to the doctor, and let them know that it's not working- hope you feel better soon!

Thanks  - I tried to see the original Dermatologist but he was booked for 3 months.  I didn’t bother reporting the adverse reaction since the cream’s listed side effects include permanent discoloration and skin burns/bubbling/lesions/etc.....sounds like the manufacturer is well aware of these problems....I just wish the Dr would have warmed me.  Looks like I better get used to living with the damage since I’ve already been tested for fungal infections.
It's still really important to report the reaction- they always want to know how people are responding- it's actually part of a government mandate for these companies to report it.

I encourage you not to give up and keep pushing for answers- use that link to contact the drug manufacturer and keep working on getting answers.  Don't give up hope- I know it can be frustrating when several doctors are not helpful, but you have to be your own health advocate, it's very important to keep pushing!
