surgery while taking accutane

My 17 year old daughter developed fibroadenoma one month after starting accutane. She is still on accutane. Should I wait till she is off the accutane to have the surgery?

Hello,
Usually it is recommended not to have any cosmetic surgery like dermabrasion, laser treatment or plastic surgery while on accutane. Regarding the surgery for fibroadenoma, I would suggest you to discuss it with your daughter’s surgeon. Accutane may increase the chances of post surgery keloid formation and so I would suggest you to discuss this point with your daughter’s surgeon.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

get your daughter off accutane ... its the worst srug out there .. i was on it and durring my 5th month i started experiencing depression and self esteem issues .. its not worth it. my close friend had the same side affects and even talked about killing him self. nevermind all the other complications you can experience in the future, its simply not worth it and you should keep trying other methodes for acne.      trussttt me .. andif not do alot more research about the drug and its effects

I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that  no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
