My 84 year old father lost his pancreas 12 years ago and is insulin dependent.
He and my mother are sugar addicts; their behavior gives it away.
At family reunions they can't have one piece of pie, they have large samples of every dessert. I've peeped into their fridge many times and its loaded with ice cream, candy, orange juice, etc. They deny sugar intake to me and I'm certain that they aren't truthful to physicians.
Dad's lost weight like crazy. He's 6'2" and weighs around 130 lbs.
I understand the basics about diabetes but don't know if his high sugar intake to blame for the weight loss? If so my next step is intervention and drag him to a nutritionist.
I'd really appreciate your input on this one.
Thanks,
Mike
