Thirsty

I am thirsty often during the day, but it doesn't seem excessive to me until the evenings.  After my evening meal, I do feel that my thirst is excessive.  I do use salt in my food, but I don't think it is excessive.  This excessive thirst in the evenings occurs no matter what I eat, or what activities I engage in.  It has been ongoing every evening all winter.

I am otherwise healthy, but do have some osteoporosis in my hips, some migraine headaches, and after getting through the flu, I have an itchy rash on my back that is puzzling.  I take supplements under my doctor's guidance such as calcium, vitamin D, tyrosine, DHEA, and recently added iron chelate gelcaps for my red blood count was a little low.

I am a post menopausal woman, age 56.  I have not mentioned this to my doctor yet.

I recommend that instead of guessing about it ask your doctor to do a hemoglobin a1c test to see how your blood sugar levels are running. This is much more accurate as a test for diabetes than a random or a fasting glucose test.
