Neuragen

Hi, I have Diabetic Neuropathy in my feet. I take Gabapentin that helps. I was given an advertisement for an over the counter medication called Neuragen. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? Thanks!

I have never heard of those products mentioned for neuropathic pain.
Apart from the L-arginine, I have not been able to find the others that are mentioned.

I am interested in the L-arginine and may try this out at some point - thanks for bring this to our attention caregiver222.

My doctor prescribes Amitriptylene for neuropathic pain.  This medication is an antidepressant but is used for nerve pain.  It doesn't stop the pain altogether, but does lessen it somewhat.

As far as I am aware there is no cure once the nerves have been damaged through diabetes.  I was diagnosed with peripheral nerve damage years before glucose intolerance was identified.

I use Gabby as well, but also use a blood pressure drug (off label) called Losartin as well. Neither of these will "turn off" a session, but they serve to REDUCE the 'frequency' of my instances. [Which for me is more like a manic "Ken" doll attacking my foot w/a fork. I can ALMOST hear the maniacal giggling as he stabs me repeatedly at 3:30 AM]

Diabetic neuropathy (especially in the feet) can sometimes be significantly reversed by taking oral   L-arginine three grams a day in divided doses. A lesser dose will not work. This can also improve sexual function. This non-prescription amino acid can be purchased by the pound in health food stores for $20-$25 U.S., which is far less expensive than the capsules.  You should get results within five days of starting treatment.

I have neuropathy in my foot and hands and a friend told me about the Neuragen, however the only place she can fid it is at the 1960/Ella location. I have not tried it YET, but plan to see how it works. I am presently using Penetrex, and it works very very well.

I also have neuropathy.  My pain is mostly confined to my feet, burning and shooting pains.  I use neuragen all the time for the pain,  It works great on mine.  It is a natural
oil that you rub in at the first sign of pain.  It is expensive but it lasts a long time cause you only need a drop or two at a time.  I hope you find it gives you relief if you decide
to try it.  I keep mine in my purse so I am never without it.
