Every person I talk to about this has almost the same story. I was also diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. It feels like forever. I am currently 32 weeks. I am on medication but on a controlled diet. Stillborn is SUCH A RARE thing. You are more likely to have a bigger baby. Like I said I am 32 weeks and my baby is already measuring 5lbs 4oz. They start monitoring the baby twice a week. You will be fine. Just try to follow the diet as best to your ability and remember you did NOTHING to bring this on yourself!
That's messed up. I was told my baby could be really big if I had it. Gd is common and you can manage it. Don't let that b*tch scare you!
I was diagnosed at 29 weeks and I am now almost 34 weeks. They scared me at the beginning too saying I need medication and I could have a still born and crap. I was very determined and followed the diet. After a week I noticed it's not that hard and my numbers have been perfect. I don't need medication or insulin. Plus, my baby is measuring right where she should be. The one thing I can say is that it is NOT your fault and you did nothing to bring this on. Sometimes our hormones work against us and we need extra help to ensure a healthy mommy and baby. Some women can diet control and some need more interventions to help them along. It's not as bad as people make it seem. If you need any help please let me know!
smileymonn89 yes I'm in America. That's too bad! My husband was actually happy about the diabetes just because we get the ultrasounds. Lol They monitor her weight weekly to make sure I don't need a c-section.
I failed test twice but with walking alot and eating no sweets and taking chia seeds teaspoon before meal.. I got retested and I pasted im 32 weeks now I will get checked again in two weeks but baby will be here soon worse case baby is bigger but usually doctor said they induce u early to avoid heavy birth weight and baby needing sugar.
New mom 85 are you in america ?
Is australia they dont do weekly ultrasounds, i wish they had :)
Thats just stupid what an awful nurse!!
I had it with my first just had to stick to low carb low sugar diet he was born 10lbs 3oz and had to be on a drip for two days as a result but other then that it was fine some cases need insulin injections i wss blessed not to need them and control it via diet
I can't not believe she said that to you!!! I have it and it's not a big deal. It's one of the most commonly diagnosed things with pregnancy. As long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise you can regulate your sugar levels and you and your baby will be fine. Yes, still born babies are a rare risk but that is when you let your glucose levels sky rocket and don't take care of yourself. Low carbs, no more sugary snacks and 30 minutes of exercise a day. They will also have you take your glucose levels several times a day. Not being able to eat everything in sight ***** when your pregnant but it's worth it for the baby. And a good part is you get weekly ultrasounds to check on your baby so I get to see my baby girl ever week.
What a horrible doctor :/ Iv got my test on Friday
