gestational diabetes.....

So its been about 3 weeks since they diagnosed me with gd at my ob  and I was suppose to get referred to a specialist two weeks ago but the clinic is taking forever! I've been calling them and pushing them and all they say is they'll call back. My question is can any of you give me tips on more less what I can eat, what to stay away from and so?

For breakfast I get 1 milk, 1 carb, 2 protein, 1 fat.  For snack I get 1 fruit (no juice), 1 carb,  1 meat.  For lunch I get 1 milk, 3 veggies, 1 fruit, 3 carb, 3 meat, 2 fat.  Afternoon snack I get 1 fruit,  1 carb,  1 protein.   For dinner I get 3 veggies,  1 fruit,  3 starch, 4 protein,  3 fat.  Bedtime snack I get 1 milk, 1 carb,  1 protein.   It's a lot of food.   I found salads worked well and I combined a lot of my food that way.  Also1 serving of milk = 12 ggrams of carb, 1 serving of fruit = 15 grams of carb,  breads and starch = 15 grams of carb.

boiled eggs, I was told that is your going to have anything starchy to eat boiled eggs with it, the protein will help balance your sugar

Cut sugars as much as possible.  Stay away from soda or switch to diet. If you eat a lot of starches- switch to whole grain-- so whole wheat pasta and bread. Carbs turn into sugar in the body so you want to limit your intake. One thing I did was when I made spaghetti I used spaghetti squash-- it was really good. You want to keep your carb intake at 45g per meal

Well certainly anything with a ton of processed sugar, pasta and bread...all those things process down into glucose. You can eat them -unless you GD is serious- in moderation/small portions but honestly not knowing how severe your particular case is....I'm skeptical to answer. I wouldn't want to stear you wrong.
