Test types for diabetese, Insulin resistance and Metabolic syndrome?

Hi everyone,
So I am just starting to be more aware of my health. I used to work between 60-80 hours a week and eating a lot of fast food, just to get work done. I was able to tell that my body wasn't feeling very well. Its been two months now that I haven't had any fast food. My sleep has been pretty good.

My dad's side is at risk of diabetes. I want to know, when I go to the doctor and ask him to check me for diabetes risk, does he check for insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome too?

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions — increased blood pressure, a high blood sugar level, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels — that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

While all of these factors increase risk of serious disease, having just one of these conditions, doesn't qualify as metabolic syndrome.

Hi.  If you are at risk for diabetes the Dr can do tests for hba1c and fasting glucose.  A lipid panel should also be done. They can also test insulin levels.  Metabolic syndrome is not a single test: they look for a pattern of signs and symptoms.
