Insulin pump needed.

I'm looking for an insulin pump for my daughter who is on 5 shots a day since she was 8 years old. The brand or type doesn't matter, this would be the best birthday gift ever if I could reduce her pain.

Hi!  I think it's wonderful that you are trying to do this for your daughter.  There are a couple key pieces of information you didn't include which would be useful.  The country you live in can make a difference, as different countries have different programs for medical devices like this.  Second is whether or not you have health insurance, since insurance can pay for a lot of the costs involved with a pump.  I'm going to send you to JDRF's Online Support Team, they are very good at helping people.

Here's the link:  http://www.jdrf.org/index.cfm?page_id=103451

Be sure to tell them your insurance situation and where you live.  Good luck!

We have Cigna but she doesn't qualify, because she has control on shots. The thing the insurance hasn't seen is that shots are very hard to handle, an a pump would make life so much better for her.

You need to call Cigna and ask for a supervisor and find out what pump they pay for.  Your need to get your doctor involved and he needs to contact Cigna and let them know that it is a medical necessity.  I know several people that have gotten Cigna to pay for the pumps and supplies, but it takes persistence on your part and the endocrinologist
