The vitamin niacin (in prescription form) may help, along with eating sufficient healthy fats, and plenty of aerobic exercise.

Extra virgin coconut oil is not a bad fat!  It is actually good for you.

Just don't eat the stuff that has been scrubbed and bleached and heat treated.  That is bad for you.

Exercise is the key to increasing HDL...and if you smoke, quiting smoking helps too.

I always think of "healthy fats" coming from plants....with the exception of coconut (bad fat)
less healthy fats come from animals or foods made from animal products (butter, margrine, salad dressings, mayo, sour cream etc....) the exception to animal products is fish....Omega 3 is the healthy stuff!

Most dietary changes help lower cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL, however, as I said, exercise is the key to increasing HDL.

Healthy fats include that from nuts, olive oils, avocado, fatty fish (ie sardines, salmon), etc.
Some saturated fats are ok, but in moderation.

Avoid hydrogenated fats at all times.  Hydrogenated fats are man-made fats and are found in most processed foods, and margarines.

To add further, reduce refine carbohydrates and particularly cut out fructose (in the form of high fructose corn syrup) (reasonable portions of real fruits are fine).
