As mammo clearly stated, think of the consequences of permitting diabetes to go out of control. Amputation, blindness, and paralysis from stroke, for example. These consequences are very real.

There are worse things than death.

Forget about the m & m's and the ice-cream.

A half a big mac together with appropriate exercise every so often probably won't kill you.

Stay aware of the consequences if you don't give them up.  Is losing your legs worth having all these sweets?  I know it's difficult, my husband had to do it.  You can still have a Big Mac just don't eat the bread.  After awhile you won't miss them as much, so my husband says.  He refused to give up his sweets and bad carbs until his diabetes got extremely bad and he almost lost a toe, this made the disease real for him.  Before this his diabetes was controlled with medication, choosing to not give up his sweets put him on insulin twice a day, which he never wanted. You are not only helping your diabtes but your overall health by not eating these foods.  My husband's eating habits also caused him to develop peripheral neuropathy, and he can only walk a few step without crippling pain.  He had to have 2 stents put in as well due to plaque build up from fatty foods.  Eating healthy and exercising will not only improve your overall health, you will feel better.  You can do this....you have to.  I wish you all the best and take care of YOU!
