Can you comment on Bydureon?  Is anyone taking it yet?   It sounds like with weight loss, less nausea issues and only once a week injections it will be a good alternative to other drugs.

Should add 'or as one of the last treatments' to "If it's "not recommended as the first medication to treat diabetes" is AMYLIN saying Bydureon is to be used with other medications?"

In the US, the FDA approved Bydureon in January of 2012 for once weekly treatment for T2 Diabetes. Approved mid-2011 in Europe. It behooves the patient to read-up and take mental notes on Bydureon side effects. Not everyone has the same side effect reaction/s to medications, some less severe or none to others.

What alternative? What other drugs? This is from AMYLIN Pharmaceuticals, makers of Bydureon. "BYDUREON is an injectable prescription medicine that may improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and should be used along with diet and exercise. BYDUREON is not recommended as the first medication to treat diabetes." If it's "not recommended as the first medication to treat diabetes" is AMYLIN saying Bydureon is to be used with other medications? This something you need to discuss with your health care provider.

Also, "In animal studies, BYDUREON caused rats to develop tumors of the thyroid gland. Some of these tumors were cancer. It is not known if BYDUREON causes thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) in people." Well, saying maybe or could happen is not a pleasant thought to have when injecting Bydureon. JMO
