Combing insulin

I've just been switched from Novilin NPH to Lantus. I'm to start at 10 units. for one to one correlation that seems to little, I was using 16 - 22 units at bedtime. Also is anyone combining both Novilin NPH and Lantus with Lantus at bedtime and the NPH at a lower dose around noon.

OK, that's better and how they should be taken. I took your comment literally where "combining" is defined by Websters a: to become one b: to unite to form a chemical compound, as it would apply to "mixing".

Not mixing them. Taking lantus at bedtime and NPH at around noon.

Your dosage variant should be discussed with your doctor as he/she - from your medical records/history - can explain the reason why.

From Sanofi-Aventis makers of Lantus, "Do NOT dilute or mix Lantus® with any other insulin or solution. It will not work as intended and you may lose blood sugar control, which could be serious. Lantus® must only be used if the solution is clear and colorless with no particles visible."
