Diabetes and Atacand

My cardiologist said diabetes patient should also be on ARB.  (Atacand is belongs to the group of ARB).  My GP agreed that.  My GP also said many and most of the diabetes patient also on that.  Atacand is for the prevention of kidney failure.  I just wish to know is that true?

Are you all diabetes sufferers on ARB or Atacand?  What is your doctor said?

Another suggestion: We can cure and prevent the diabetes easily by following the 2 below simple steps. Many diabetic patients followed these steps and found great improvement in sugar level.
1. We need to chew the food very well. When you chew it, teeth grind the food well and it will become semi liquid shape with saliva. We need to taste the food while chewing so more saliva will form that will surround the ground food. After the food has become semi liquid shape only, we need to swallow the food.
2. We shouldn't open the mouth while chewing until we swallow the food

Atacand HTC [candesartan + hydrochlorothiazide] may raise blood sugars. Consult with your pharmacist regarding Atacand drug interactions with ANY and ALL drugs/supplements/herbs/vitamins you are taking which may elevate blood sugars. If none exists consult with your doctor on switching to another bp medication. Good luck -

after starting atacand my blood sugar level is high.is it because of atacand.

Atacand lowers your blood pressure.  I use it with Glucocil and brought my Blood Sugar down to 126 from 327.

You might want to ask him why he wants you on this medication. There must be some reason, although it's odd that he would say it is a normal med for every diabetic to take!

I'm still quite new to the diabetes.  My blood shows all normal for kidneys function test.  Just wonder why he wants me on Atacand?  He said it is a normal med for every diabetic to take.

Never heard of it. (And I frequent websites with thousands of diabetics). Is there a special reason your doctor is concerned about your kidneys? The best protection for your kidneys is the same thing that protects against other diabetic complications: Well-controlled blood sugar.
