Sorry, Westonks, I have to disagree with your post as it is very misleading. Here's why:

"Actually the perfect A1C is 6.7-7.2 because this is the range with the least complications."
An A1c of 6.7 - 7.2% is equivalent to a daily glucose level of 146 to 160 mg/dl, well into diabetes land. A normal A1c is 4.1 - 5.0% which is 70 to 99 mg/dl. Diabetes starts at an A1c of >6% and where complications began to take shape.

There are many drug company sponsored web sites wanting one [and some doctors] to believe higher than normal A1c and/or glucose levels are OK when in fact it induces diabetes side effects. The higher your levels makes one require higher medication dosage and/or additional medication to help lower the levels. Bottom line results is the more meds one needs the more profit $$ for the drug companies, the higher your daily glucose levels the more pronounced diabetes side effects become.

"Under 6.5 most likely means your having to many lows"
Huh? 6.5% is equivalent to 140 mg/dl. One cannot experience hypoglycemic episodes at this level. At 3.7% or lower yes, but not at 6.5%.

I don't where Zoela is getting her information but your A1C SHOULD NOT be below 6.5.  Actually the perfect A1C is 6.7-7.2 because this is the range with the least complications. Under 6.5 most likely means your having to many lows, and 8.0 is a little high but you'll work it out.

Yes, 8.0 is too high. You want to be below 6.5. Your doctor might say 7.0, but that is an outdated goal as complications are still possible at that level. Little by little work on getting it down with weight loss if needed, carb reduction and exercise. How are your daily numbers? Assuming you are not able to stay under 100 fasting and under 140 2 hours after your meal, you might want to ask your doctor for medication or to raise the dose or change the medication you are on.
