Diabetes

When using lancet to prick my finger, I squeezed my finger to get the blood out and the blood came out like a geyser.  It literally sprayed all over the area around me.  What could have caused this and should I report it to my physician?

Was this the first time that you used a lancet to prick your finger?

I do know that the lancet pen can be set on different settings.  Check the lancet discharge setting so that it is not too high.  It appears that the lancet penetrated too deeply.

Best wishes.

Yes. There is a disorder associated with this problem. It can happen anywhere on the body and the blood seems to squirt from a pinprick. It is scarey and disconcerting. There are contributing factors, especially high blood presure, but it is a hematologic disorder.
