Insulin & metmorphin

Doctor has added 250 2Xdaily metmorphin to my insulin.  Asked her how much should I reduce the insulin?  Her reply was to do a little and keep testing my sugars.

Does anyone know if there is a "rule or formula" to follow.... perhaps 10% or so to reduce insulin when adding the metmorphin?  Just a little scared, don't want to have any occurrences.  Any experiences of others?

Thanks in advance for your help!

My A1C is usually 6.8 to 7.2.  Dr. wants to decrease insulin because of weight gain due to a change in insulin brand (less expensive).  She thinks I'll do better with a combo of both for the weight and for dropping my sugar levels.  Hope so,

Thanks for your reply it makes sense, appreciate it very much.  Just needed a start point.

Thanks to all for correcting my poor spelling :)

How much insulin do you take?

How high are your blood sugars maintained (with insulin)?

Without knowing the above, it is not so easy to say much.   Maybe reduce by 20% and take your first dose in the morning, so you can observe if there is any immediate / obvious change.  You will then have to readjust your insulin slowly (up or down) based on your blood sugars.  You can use your bolus insulin to make careful corrections, if you are higher than expected.

Metformin takes about 2 weeks to see full effect, so you will need to monitor closely during this time.

I think you mean Metforman  I am not an MD..  I know of no formula as they are different and work different and EVERYBODY is different how insulin works and how Metforman works for them.
