I was told that going on Metformin would help lose the weight. Even for diabetics. Well I did lose 30 lbs in the first 6 months but then it stalled and now have gained weight while on it. I do have a thyroid issue and taking meds for that among other things. So yes I think the meds we are on can have a great deal of influence on our weight gains and losses. The eating habits we have don't help either and if you like me do not get enough exercise consistently then that doesn't help either.
first, make sure they check that your thyroid is normal. If you were low thyroid, this can cause unexplained weight gain.
You may need to cut back on how much you're eating, particularly carbs. The meds may have made your body more efficient in using the foods you eat.
Thank you! Finally someone else who going throught the same thing!
I f also think that diabetic medication causes weight gain. I am seriously considering asking to go on medication via injection . I realise that this is a drastic step but ,like you, I have put on a lot of weight without eating anything extra.
Metformin can cause light weight gain, but 12 pounds in less than two months is more than light in my opinion. Are you sure you haven't endulged a little over the holidays? I thought I was being good during this time, but thinking back, I ate too much!
