I've been on insulin for years. Went to hospital a month ago for bleeding ulcers of the esophagus, and was given bags full of Protonix, IV for a week. Was sent home taking 40mg 2 X a day. Had microalbumin well over 400 when I had labs done for checkup. So Dr. ordered a kidney ultrasound and a nodule was found in my right kidney. I've seen several law suits about Protonix causing kidney failure! My sugars have been running extremely high, and I'm unable to control them with diet or insulin, since being on the Protonix! It's like the insulin isn't even working! I'm getting scared! I go on the 14th for a consult with a Urologist, and the 28th for another scope to see how the ulcers are healing. Now I'm afraid to keep taking the Protonix. Any advice? I really think all this stuff in the hospital, has damaged my kidneys :( They'll just blame it on the diabetes :( My daughter splits her long acting insulin into 2 doses a day. My dr. didn't even want to talk about it. Has anyone done this, and know how I could go about trying it? I take 40 units of Lantus at noon every day, and sliding scale of Novolog. My sugar was 199 when I went to sleep last night, and 356 when I woke up!
